EMS COURSES
The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance and are a critical link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics are required to keep up to date with education requirements set forth by the National Registry of EMTs and local regulatory authorities. This online refresher program will bring the prehospital provider up to date with new knowledge as it relates to prehospital emergency care.
CPR AND FIRST AID COURSES
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
Wilderness First Aid is a course intended for those who are not in the healthcare field. This course is designed to help the student gain the knowledge, skill set and confidence to be able to help in the event someone a person became injured or ill in the wilderness. With limited resources available while in the wilderness, this course can help provide the help someone might need.
Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) are viruses carried in human blood and other body fluids that cause disease in people. There are many different bloodborne pathogens, including malaria and syphilis, but the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B (HBV), and hepatitis C (HCV) viruses, which can each lead to liver cancer, pose the most serious threat of workplace exposure.
Perhaps no other profession is more at risk of the hazards posed by bloodborne pathogens (BBP) than the medical profession, but that’s not to say that awareness and prevention measures shouldn’t be prevalent in all workplaces, because the price of ignorance can be very costly and simple understanding of some bloodborne pathogen basics, really can save lives.
This course is intended for individuals who will be required to administer oxygen in an emergency setting while waiting for responders to arrive. This course will focus on administration of oxygen to breathing and non-breathing patients, set up of the oxygen delivery system and the use of pulse oximetry.
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION COURSES
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
This course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response
The AHA offers two separate courses for healthcare providers who require training in pediatric care. This course reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
This course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF EMT (NAEMT) COURSES
PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.
NAEMT’s EMS Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) course addresses the knowledge gap that leads to injuries and deaths and focuses on the specific behaviors that need to be changed to create a culture of safe driving.
Drawing on the most current research about the behaviors and other hazards that lead to crashes, EVOS features case studies and analyses of both common and catastrophic collisions. EVOS challenges EMS practitioners to reconsider their preconceptions about safe vehicle operations.
