Course Requirements

Our clinical partners have very strict requirements in order to do clinical rotations in their facilities.  Failure to follow the directions outlined in this document will result in removal from the EMT/AEMT program.  In order to perform your clinical rotations you will have to complete the following:

  • Recent 2 Step tuberculosis testing within 6 months of the first day of class
  • Background check through precheck within thirty days after course start
  • Drug screen within thirty days after course start
  • Recent physical exam within the last 6 months of the first day of class
  • Valid driver license
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Current health insurance
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Appropriate immunizations
  • Current EMT certification (AEMT students only)

With the exception of the EMT certification for AEMT students, the above requirements must be completed and turned in within:

  • Fourteen days of the start of class for an accelerated program
  • Thirty days of the start of class for a standard program

It is important that all requirements are met in a timely manner as it takes time to coordinate the clinical sites and clinical sites cannot be requested until all student paperwork is completed.

AEMT Students have 14 days from the start of the class to obtain their EMT certification with the Southern Nevada Health District, the State of Nevada, or the National Registry of EMTs.

Tuberculosis Testing

Students are required to have a recent 2 step Tuberculosis test or QuantiFERON blood test that has been performed within 6 months of the class start.  A QuantiFERON blood test is recommended.  Please allow yourself plenty of time to complete the 2 step TB process as it takes almost two weeks to complete.  A 2 step TB test can be obtained by visiting your primary care physician or visiting our preferred vendor.  Chest x-rays will not be accepted.

Background Check Through Precheck

Precheck is the preferred vendor for our clinical partners.  Before students are able to perform their clinical rotations, a background check must be performed.  If you have a felony on your criminal record, please speak with the program director before continuing the class to see if you are eligible for clinical rotations.

To perform your background check, follow these instructions:

  • Go to precheck.com
  • On the upper right hand corner of the screen click on the word STUDENTS. A drop down will appear but you will want to click on the word STUDENTS.
  • Step 1 will allow you to ORDER MY BACKGROUND CHECK OR DRUG SCREEN
  • On the middle of the page you will see SCHOOL AND PROGRAM and the ability to enter a school name. Type in GUARDIAN ELITE MEDICAL SERVICES.
  • Under the school search, a drop down will appear that says SELECT PROGRAM. Choose BACKGROUND CHECK.
  • Under Select Services, make sure that BACKGROUND CHECK is selected.
  • Click START APPLICATION
  • You will then be prompted to sign in if you have created a previous account or create an account.

Please note: Guardian Elite Medical Services does not set the back ground requirements for the clinical sites.  Clinical sites can turn down students for criminal history.

Drug Screen

A drug screen must be completed within thirty (30) days after the start of the program.  A prior drug screen is not allowed.  A drug screen can be obtained by visiting your primary care physician or visiting our preferred vendor.

Recent Physical Exam Within The Last 6 Months

A recent physical exam within the last six (6) months of the start of the program must be submitted to the student’s file.  A physical exam can be obtained by visiting your primary care physician or visiting our preferred vendor.
